In the world of coffee aficionados, a malfunctioning coffee maker is a crisis. Despite reaching out to Zwilling and scouring every hardware store, a replacement seemed elusive. What's a crafty person to do for her coffee-deprived husband? Craft a solution! In this blog post, I'll share the steps to create a DIY silicone washer from a food-grade counter mat. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, read on for a crafty fix!
Measurements Matter:
Use a 6" digital caliper to measure the spring and the post it fits over.
Measure the groove it fits into.
Cricut Design Space :
Create a circle for the dimensions of the washer
Create another circle for the dimensions of the hole in the center.
Place the two circles on top of each other
Select both circles and use the align function
Align them vertically and horizontally.
Select both circles again and Slice them.
Remove all of the unnecessary sliced pieces.
Create a Custom Material Setting:
Click Browse All Materials
Click material settings at the bottom
Scroll all the way to the bottom and click "Add New Material"
New Material Name "Silicone 2 MM"
Click Save
Back at the top slide all the way to 350
Click Fine-Point Blade
Set Multi-Cut to 4x
Click Save
Material Prep:
Purchase food-grade, heat-resistant silicone mats (I used 2.0 mm) - [Amazon Affiliate link ].
Cut the necessary amount of silicone.
Cricut Crafting:
Attach the silicone to a strong Cricut mat using painter's tape.
In Cricut Design Space, make the project.
Load the mat and cut the washers.
